I started my working life in the nursing profession, and after 21 years changed careers to undertake an HR role. During a period of over 25 years in HR, I have worked across many professional settings including Education, Health, Infrastructure, Environment and People Services itself. Change Management often creates necessary but challenging circumstances which require sensitive but clear handling to ensure adherence with legal and internal policy.
As well as accomplishing my BSc (Hons), I am fully CIPD qualified. I am also an accredited ACAS internal investigator and an accredited ACAS mediator.
My particular areas of interest:
I have a wealth of experience and enjoy supporting and coaching managers with employee situations to improve individual and business performance.
Strategic Workforce Planning has been a key area of work for me bringing business plans and People Plans to fruition through identified achievable workstreams. I have many years of creating job descriptions and role profiles for evaluation, case management and organisational policy. I have undertaken many internal investigations to enable businesses to deal with difficult workplace situations, and being an accredited mediator has given me the skills to help resolve conflict and enable a way forward.
I have over 30 years of experience in the world of HR and am a Chartered member of the CIPD. I have worked as HR Business Partner in a Health environment and also within the world of Education. More recently, I have worked as Head of the Case Management Team, dealing with all disciplinary, grievance matters etc. to Tribunal level and latterly as Head of Employee Relations within the Government of Jersey, negotiating pay deals within Government and delivering partnership working with all Unions across all pay groups.
I am both a qualified ACAS Mediator and ACAS trained Investigator with many years’ experience. I am a fully trained negotiator and have a wealth of experience in job evaluation having experience of 3 different types of methodology, in addition to extensive experience of organisational change and implementing policies.
My particular areas of interest:
I particularly enjoy using my experience to help clients with strategic HR planning, organisational change and policy development.
As Head of Employment Relations, there was a need to reduce potential disputes at the informal stage which I achieved. Within every company is the need for dispute resolution and I have used my accredited mediation skills to assist where interactions have run into difficulty and to prevent the need to resort to a tribunal process.
